What is TomTom Traffic?
It is a traffic information service that covers all roads, from highways to narrow streets, in 84 countries, including Japan. The data collected from over 600 million smartphones and in-vehicle devices worldwide is updated every 30 seconds, and it can display not only congestion information but also incident details such as road closures, road construction, and traffic accidents.
・ Travel time calculation and route search
・ Real-time traffic information monitoring
・ Real-time traffic management and flow control
・ Situational awareness during disasters
・ Traffic congestion alleviation and urban planning
・ Statistical analysis using historical traffic data
The products can be used in a wide range of applications. Another feature is that all products are API-based, allowing integration with other systems.
What is GeoTechnologies' probe data?
GeoTechnologies’ probe data is extracted from human flow data that the company holds, specifically focusing on GPS logs that can be estimated to be from vehicles based on their movement and speed on the road network.
This human flow data is collected at an industry-leading high frequency—every 5 seconds or every 20 meters—through the “TRIMA” app, which has accumulated 20 million downloads. The data is gathered with user consent and is anonymized.
In addition to modes of transportation such as walking, driving, and train travel, the data includes more than 10 types of attribute data, such as age and gender, allowing for the analysis of movement information by different demographic categories.

About GeoTechnologies
Since our founding in 1994, we have consistently provided reliable digital maps. The following year, we launched a map software, "MapFan." Since then, we have been at the forefront of the industry by swiftly providing essential AD/ADAS maps, crucial for advanced autonomous driving, along with Japan's first i-mode maps, car navigation systems, corporate map data, and location-based solutions. Moreover, through mobile applications like "TRIMA" (2020), we have established real-time connections with our users, allowing us to grasp "insights" into real-world situations, such as human movement and underlying motivations. By combining vast amounts of large datasets, most notably people flow trends with spatial data accumulated over approximately 30 years, we utilize cutting-edge technologies that analyze and provide "insights of the moment." Our goal is to contribute to society by fostering a more comfortable and sustainable world.
